Dear SWOFCU Member,
For some time, Southwest Oklahoma Federal Credit Union has allowed members with qualified checking accounts to participate in our Courtesy Pay program which pays checks that overdraw your account (within certain limits) instead of returning them.
Recently, a new banking regulation has been established that will allow you to authorize us to pay overdrafts for your everyday debit card transactions using the same Courtesy Pay program. Everyday debit card transactions are those transactions for one time purchases generally made at stores, restaurants, or other merchants.
Under the conditions of the new banking regulation, we will not be able to authorize and pay overdrafts for your everyday debit card transactions as of August 15, 2010, unless you give us permission.
The general provisions of our Courtesy Pay program are the same for paper checks and everyday debit card transactions. You will still pay a fee of $25.00 each time we pay an overdraft, but now, you will not be caught in the situation of having your debit card transaction declined due to a lack of funds (certain limits still apply) and potentially being charges additional fees by the merchant.
We are notifying our members in advance so that you have sufficient time to respond. You can opt-in at any time, but, if you do not opt-in before August 15, 2010, we will not be able to include your everyday debit card transactions in our Courtesy Pay program until you give us permission to do so.
