How do digital wallets work?

Digital wallet apps are designed to securely store card information so you can easily make in-person and in-app purchases at participating merchants.

Simply open your digital wallet app and follow the instructions to enter your Southwest Oklahoma Federal Credit Union credit or debit card information.

Once you have entered your card information, you’ll be able to use your device to make purchases in stores and restaurants with payment terminals that are set up to accept NFC (Near Field Communications) payments.  Simply hold your phone near the reader.

You can also make in-app purchases when supported by the merchant’s app.

Are digital wallets secure?

Yes, digital wallet apps are secure because they don’t store your actual card numbers and card information is encrypted.  A separate security code is also generated for each transaction.  In addition, before the transaction is completed you’ll need to enter either a passcode or use your device’s fingerprint ID feature to verify.  These features are strong protections against card fraud and are designed to protect you.

Can I use a digital wallet app anywhere?

You can use your digital wallet app at participating retailers that accept contactless or digital payments.  Look for the contactless payments symbol or any of the participating digital wallets app symbols at checkout.

In addition, some online merchants support these apps as a form of payment.

Do I have to use a digital wallet all the time?

No, you can still use your physical card(s) to make purchases as needed.

Are digital wallets free?

Yes, this service is free.  However, message and data rates may apply from your mobile service provider depending on your plan.

Can I still use the cards stored in my digital wallet to make purchases if they have been lost, stolen, or damaged?

Yes, you can still use your cards within your digital wallet to make purchases.  Please contact us at 866-353-0490 right away to report your card as lost or stolen and we will be happy to assist you with getting a new card.   Once the new card is received, you will need to add this new card to your digital wallet and remove your lost or stolen card to ensure uninterrupted service.
